About this site: what is done here and where the data comes from

This site compares online casinos in two markets — the United Kingdom and Germany — on a basis that can be checked: the public registers of the two regulators.

Where every figure comes from

For the UK, the Gambling Commission’s register of licensed businesses: account number, licensee, licence number, start date, and whether a domain runs directly or as a white label.

For Germany, the whitelist published by the Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder: licence holder, permitted game type, issuing authority and date.

Every licence claim on this site comes from one of those two sources and can be looked up there. Where a figure is absent from the source, it is absent here too, rather than estimated.

Because the two regimes differ this sharply, there is no combined ranking. A British and a German operator are not alternatives to each other; they are offers in different legal systems, and most readers can only use one.

What is deliberately absent

Bonus figures. They change weekly. A number printed here would be wrong within the month and would still look authoritative.

Payout times in hours. They depend on payment method, verification status and timing. An average would be invented.

Links to operators without a licence in the relevant market. Including where the brand is well known and the site loads.

Substitute games. Where a particular slot is missing from the available catalogue, the page says so and shows nothing. A similarly named game from another studio is a different game.

How it is funded

Commission from listed operators. That is the standard arrangement in this sector and it is stated here because the alternative — not stating it — is worse.

What this site is not

Not a gambling operator. The demo versions of individual slots run on play money with no cash value, and no real-money play happens here. Anyone who wants to gamble does so at an operator — and which of them holds a licence where the reader lives is the question this site answers.

What the ratings cannot see

The rating formula uses register facts because register facts can be verified from outside. That is a real limit, and worth stating rather than glossing. A licence record says nothing about how an operator handles a disputed withdrawal, how quickly support replies, or whether the games feel well made. Those things matter to players and none of them are checkable without either trusting an operator’s own account of itself or trusting anonymous reviews.

The choice made here is to rate only what can be shown. A page that scored customer service out of ten would look more useful and be worth less.

How often the figures are rechecked

Licence records are pulled again on a schedule rather than once at launch, and every page carries the date of its last check. A licence that lapses between rebuilds will show as current until the next one — which is the honest position, and the reason the account number sits beside every figure. Anyone can repeat the check in under a minute and will get a fresher answer than this site can promise.

Corrections

Where a figure is wrong, the register wins and the page gets fixed. There is no editorial interest in defending a number that a public source contradicts, and no commercial relationship that would make defending one worthwhile.
